Arsenal 2 Juventus 0

Arsenal carved Juventus apart last night, and made the Italian Champions look like a poor West Brom. The form Arsenal have shown since playing in Madrid continued last night, and if this lasts the season 4th place and the Euro cup could become a real possibility.
Vieira got a good reception before the game. This was always going to be the case. This didn't last long though as his first challenge was a dodgy one on Fabregas which could have earn't a booking. It was strange seeing him in non Arsenal colours, but in the past 5-6 weeks we have eventually got over his departure.
The crowd was pretty loud last night. The 4 drunk guys infront of us tried their best to get them going, didn't really work in the first half. Towards the end one of them was showing how good he must be at football by calling TH14 a fcuking cnut for not having scored 3 times and being a bit fancy. Some fans will never be happy.
Villa at home on Saturday. I wont be there this time, I have a woman to please.....

Arsenal 3 Charlton 0

On a sunny, blustery and freezing cold day at highbury, Arsenal eased to a simple victory. Charlton were crap. Pires put Arsenal infront in the 13th minute after some lovely play by Hleb, Adebayor and TH14. Arsenal should have already scored twice but 2 easy chances were wasted by the new striker Adebayor. However he got the 2nd goal after a classic show of crapness by Hreidarsson. Despite wasting chances he has shown a lot of potential, and woks hard for the team, and can win headers which hasn't been seen at Highbury since Alan Smith retired his boots. 2-0 Half Time.

Hleb got a deserved goal at the start of the second half, following a powerful surge forward by the Belarusian. Charlton failed to show up for this game and got their tactics completely wrong. Most teams know that if you try to attack Arsenal at highbury you will get fcuked 90% of the time. Curbishley for England, I hope not.

Special mention to Fabregas with his man of the match performance. Also Eboue playing at right back could spell the end of Lauren being first choice.

Next up, Pompey away. Hopefully our run will continue.

Neighbours

Being a 24 year old man in a full time job I unlike many others of my generation find it embarrsingly easy to watch Neighbours at work. Which is what i have been doing this week. And I tell you this i have lucked out, i turned on Monday to find Sir Harold "bash the" Bishop strangling one legged love god Paul Robinson. He escaped with Paul seemingly dead. But Paul is not dead he is the opposite of my limp penis and very much alive. Yet he does not know that Harold tried to kill him and nobody suspects the saggy necked psycho. If you think it all seems out of character for Harold then of course you would be right, but the man who was resurrected lazarus like from the dead, returning from the sea like some kind of bible bashing swamp thing is being driven by demons, demons as far as i can understand created by the death of his son in an incident caused by Paul in some way, and if thats not enough he is being forced by some kind of internal monlogue to keep on with these acts of evil. its things like this that have kept Neighbours at the top of the comedy tree for over 20 years now. And i'm glad i have taken the time out of my schedule to start watching again. For those wondering why Paul only has one leg, i think he was pushed off a cliff. And the scriptwriters ignoring the normal outcome from this event of death decided to remove his leg, which like Mark Fowlers HIV or Ethels Willy would only comes out when the plot is wearing thin.

And in other news, Steph, who as far as i used to remember didn't used to have a face like a fanny mangled in a blender, is pregnant but also has cancer of the tit.

Product Review:

Exciting news World Cup Fans.

I have acquired my Panini Fifa World Cup Licensed Cards Collectors Binder.

I found it in HMV and bought it at the price of £2.99 and 5 packs of cards at 35p each.

Unfortunately the collection is in card and not sticker form. But i can assure you that my excitement was not damaged one Iota.

Each pack contains Six Cards, the cards contain vital information. Such as Name/Nationality/Height/Weight/birthdate (Yank Style)/National Flag/Number of time nation has appeared in World Cup/Position and number if any of World Cup wins for the Nation.

All this info packed onto a card with an action shot of the player makes for a pretty neato package i can assure you. but it gets better. Not only are the cards glossed and slightly embossed (enough to impress any girl) but they can also double up as a top trumps style game. Each player is given a defensive and attacking rating outof six. You can then build a team of your best players and 'play' against a friend. Pant Wettingly exciting i can assure you.

All in there are 150 Cards - The bias is towards the bigger teams with most of them featuring 12 players. sadly this includes the USA. Fans of football will be pleased to know there is no room for Gary Neville as unlikely to start "injured in the head" Sol Campbell is in.

So if you were super lucky with your cards you could essentially spend just over £10 pounds and get the album and all the cards.

Unfortunately i haven't been so lucky. I currently have an extra TOMAS GALASEK & DAMARCUS BEASELY. Anyone who wants a swapsy contact me at the normal address. Micheala Strachan Enterprises. P.O Box 69.

Yours

Daniel James Freear

P.S England Players get a headshot and are called Superstars - I assume this is for English Players, unless Jermain Defoe is the best player in the pack.

Do you need to be talented or dedicated to make it good in any di scipline?

As penned by Mark Betts:
I think people can be born with natural sporting talent but this can only give you a good start in sport, one of the reasons you often hear of professionals excelling in a number of sports when young. Training methods will then take you to a top professional level.

But once at this stage i think psychological aspects play a huge role.

Oh and there's always the theory that footballers are born with an eye deficiency giving slightly wider vision allowing them to see more of their surroundings???

Do you need to be talented or dedicated to make it good in any di scipline?

As penned by Daniel Freear:
Undoubtedly i am once of the most natural talents in any sport but without the careful nuturing my personality needed i became just another of those where are they now stories you read before every world cup, olympics or national bowls tournaments.

If you don't practice at a sport a lot it doesn't matter how good you are you either won't get better or won't be able to compete with the best.

Snooker being the perfect example.
Ronnie is a natural talent and can possibly get away with maybe an hour or two less training a day then maybe Ken Doherty but then the overall difference in class in relative terms isn't that huge.

The very best sportsmen in their field. Schumacher, Woods, Hendry, Carlton Palmer all had natural talent and drive which makes them so dominant..and boring

Talent at the Abbey Stadium

Friday 26th May and Saturday 27th May. This is when Abbey Aid takes place to raise money for Cambridge United. Acts playing on Friday are Kings of Queen, Journey south and Chico. On Saturday Liberty X and Lee Ryan are playing. Now my opinion is that this should be a big one day event. Get all the acts on the same day. The kids will come for Chico so they wont want to be out late on a Friday night. Get them to come on Saturday afternoon with the parents. A weekend ticket costs £40, so two parents and 2 children would be making a packet.
As some of my allies will confirm, I have been a keen admirer of Mr Ryan since going solo. He was the best member of Blue, able to hit the high notes. Army of Lovers is a nice song. He looks nice and will attract the ladies

Liberty X are the other band playing on Saturday night. Jessica Taylor, left, is a good reason to get a ticket, and to arrive early so you can get to the front. A few years ago I remeber Liberty X playing on Midsummer Common on bonfire night, I think Chesney Hawkes may have played the same night and he fell off the stage. Despite it being a cold night, Liberty X definately made things hot!

Tickets are available from ticketmaster from Friday March 17th.

Starting Up

Welcome to the first post on England Slackers. A site dedicated to the great country we live in. If you have managed to successfully find your way here, you too must be enjoying your working day. Hopefully there will soon be lots of pictures, and lots of interesting discussion taking place, courtesy of a few Cambridge bred men.
